The Arizona Derby Dames is dedicated to the empowerment of women from all walks of life. For the month of January, we’re proud to support the Sojourner Center, who, since 1977, has lead the way in providing shelters for victims of domestic violence, be they women, children, men, or pets.

Through this dedication to a better life for all, AZDD will be accepting warm, winter children’s clothing donations starting January 5th, at our first bout of 2019, through January 26th.

We hope to see you at our bouts this January, supporting your Dames, and the lives of those in need!

About Sojourner Center:

We believe women, children and men can break the cycle of domestic violence through supportive intervention because they possess the ability to make decisions that foster healthy, violence-free relationships. This philosophy acknowledges a women’s competency and offers her support, resources, advocacy, information, and education, always striving to equalize power between a woman and her environment.

Sojourner Center devotes significant resources to helping children, the silent and often traumatized victims of domestic violence. Programs focus on creating safety, overcoming trauma, conflict resolution, basic skill-building, and education about domestic violence.

Sojourner Center offers services to women regardless of past or present involvement with substance abuse, mental illness, race, color, creed, religious preference, disabilities, or sexual orientation. The center maintains a drug-free shelter.
